Hi. I’m Julie.
Thank you for being here. My mission in both my licensed private practice and my HealthierTech work is simple: to empower people – individuals, families, schools, and workplaces – to design healthier relationships with technology. I am not anti-tech – in fact, I am here to help make tech work for you, instead of against you. I work to foster connection, intentionality, and mental well-being in a hyper-connected world.
I am not immune to the pull of technology. I had a digital reckoning in my own life after having my daughter almost nine years ago, when I noticed that I was constantly distracted by news updates. I was so angry after consuming news, so I decided to try a ‘detox’ of sorts, cutting everything out except one 10-minute podcast reporting the top three daily stories.
I felt immediately lighter, less distracted and irritable, which created a curiosity in me that I wanted to pursue.
This was just the beginning of my start as a healthier tech activist. As a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice for more than a decade, I have seen firsthand how unhealthy relationships with tech impact individuals and families.
And while it feels daunting to make meaningful change, that is exactly why I am here. I created the “Delay, Teach, Model” Methodology to guide you through lasting change for you and your family.
As a therapist, speaker, and consultant, I am deeply engaged with the local community through 1:1 sessions with individuals, speaking at local events, or even petitioning the school board for healthier tech habits in the classroom. This has become my life’s work, threaded through everything that I do.
When I am not busy advocating for healthier tech for all, I am spending quality time with my family. We love to be outdoors and enjoy all that Southern California has to offer. And, we love snuggling up together for a family movie with popcorn.
