Speaking

I love talking with people…

especially in conversations that are genuine and meaningful. My whole career has surrounded helping others and providing education in group settings. I taught ‘Counseling 101’ and ‘The Psychology of Sex and Gender’ at California Lutheran University; at the same time I was working for Kaiser Permanente, as part of a team educating fellow therapists on best practices.

In 2018, I was hired to be the Mental Wellness Specialist in The Center for Health and Wellbeing at The Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village. This opportunity has allowed me to frequently present workshops to guests at their monthly Wellness Retreats, as well as to Fortune 500 companies who come to the property for wellness.

Lately, I’ve been talking to anyone who will listen about technology’s effects on our health and wellbeing. To watch as I speak to a large group of Pediatricians, check out this link!

Information begets change.

Parenting is hard and dealing with these devices has made it way harder. I am not anti-tech. I am FOR engaging with it intentionally, in a way that feels informed, healthy and balanced. I would love to help by facilitating a group discussion or by providing a workshop as to ‘how’ we can support each other in this stage of parenting. Let’s make it fun. It’s a heavy topic but we are strong, capable parents and we are even more powerful if we band together. I hope to meet you soon!

Our K-12 Parent Club was grateful to be able to host Julie Frumin for a parent education evening about Healthier Tech Habits. Julie’s presentation was very compelling. Julie’s data based approach was inclusive and objective and it took all the heat out of the topic. There was no judgment, there were just facts. People came away from the presentation feeling informed and empowered. Our parent community had requested the event because while we all want the best for our kids, we don’t always know how to navigate the challenges of our digital age. Julie broke the issue down into manageable chunks for us to process and made clear the most impactful things we can do to create safe and positive environments for our families. Since Julie’s presentation, the conversation on our campus and in our community has grown and we are already seeing positive outcomes from the small shifts we were able to implement right away. Thank you, Julie.

Julie Frumin spoke to the Parent Club, teachers, and administrators at a private school in Ojai. She was friendly, humble, approachable, professional, and funny. Julie shared insightful anecdotes from her work as a therapist and parent. Her slides were beautifully designed, and the thoughtful points (plus telling data) made people think, thus a deep dialogue continued afterward. This is such an important and courageous conversation to have! I like how Julie talked about reclaiming power, mental health, and making connections. I also appreciate what she said about big screens vs little screens for kids. I recommend Julie as a speaker and presenter.
