Family Tech Planners
Some parents like to create a document as a way to open the lines of communication in regards to rules around tech.
Ultimately, the goal is to help your kid become a well rounded person who can coexist with technology, NOT be ruled by it.
You probably find yourself in one of two situations:
1. Your child has devices with no clear rules in place.
Expect the conversation to be a bit tougher here. They will feel you are setting the ground rules after the game has begun. Talk about how you have new information now and will need to make some changes based on this new evidence.
2. You're about to give them a new device or app.
GOOD NEWS! There is no better time to get people to agree to what you want, than when you're handing them a shiny new toy. Remember, even though you’re starting with a contract spelling out how things should go, your job isn’t done. We will need to review how things are going as many times as there are stars in the sky. Technology isn’t one conversation. It’s infinity.
With that said, here are a couple of ‘Family Tech Planners’ that I like, from Common Sense Media.
